Our Roots
Browning and Sons, Inc is a family owned business that began in 1968. It started as a farming company and developed into a brokerage and grower/shipper business with Gene Browning as the founder and original owner. In 1997, Gene retired and at that point Mark and Mike Browning became managers of the company with assistance from Gareth Smith. Over the last 10 years, Browning and Sons, Inc. has doubled in size as one of the largest watermelon shippers in the country.

Our Current Harvest
Currently in year round shipping, Browning and Sons, Inc. starts in Mexico and ships from January to April. In late April shipping moves into the USA where our distribution points move north starting in Florida and Texas and up through Georgia, North Carolina, Missouri, Indiana, and Delaware. While following the crops, Browning and Sons, Inc. keeps all of their packing houses Food Safety Certified.

Our Growing Future
The company has always prided itself in staying ahead of the curve when it came to binning, sizing, and now Food Safety Technology. Browning and Sons, Inc. has plans in place for the changes to come in Food Safety and is working with a traceability program company. They have also started a program to help seed companies develop a better melon. The melon will produce better for growers, translating into a better shipping experience and a better shelf life for retailers and customers. With over 100 years of combined experience in the watermelon industry, Browning and Sons, Inc. looks forward to accomplishing these projects in the future.
