With the advent of the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Healthcare (AAAHC), The Joint Commission, the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and URAC and their accreditation of healthcare organizations, credentialing standards were established and the requirements for demonstrating competence were intensified.
