Elex Children’s Haven, Inc., MISSION is to empower and develop the future leaders of this country by instilling HOPE, FAITH, and CHARITY.
Our VISION is to essentially eradicate homelessness in young adults aging out of foster care.
The organization provides transitional residential services for young adults preparing to age out of the foster care system while also offering mentoring, life skills and life and leadership coaching. By providing these transitional residential services for foster care students, ECH helps to mentor and prepare students for a successful transition into independent living. The organization offers its transitional residential services throughout the year on a daily basis. Participants remain at the housing facilities and begin work to transition into independent living. The length of each participant's stay varies based on individual needs by will be approximately one year or the length of enrollment in a course of study in a secondary education institution.
The organization uses the S.H.E.L.B.Y. (Striving to Help, Encourage and Lead by Building our Youth) program. This program is a three-tier life skills program that’s aimed at helping youth to successful transition into independent living. Certified professional life coaches, licensed counselors, and mentors are on hand to educate on developing life skills, leadership training, decision-making, and community involvement. The curriculum addresses the young adults in peer support groups, short and long-term goal planning and develops healthy coping mechanism. Life coaches spend one hour a day with each participant and licensed counselors to work with participants up to two hours per week in order to help student’s transition to college programs and eventually to independent living.
